ESP32 Python Automation RFID Workplace Systems

Overview

This system was designed as a custom restroom accountability and cleanliness tracking solution for a real workplace environment.

Using ESP32-based hardware and RFID scanning, this system makes maintenance activity visible, timestamped, and easier to verify through email based interface.

Technical Highlights

Core decisions

ESP32 peer-to-peer network required, as data transmission over the business LAN was prohibited.
RFID scanning designed with longevity in mind. Only the action of inserting the card would supply power to the device in order to significantly increase battery life.
All ESP nodes feed into a central computer that is running the python program.
